I've been meaning to blog about this for the longest time! A few weeks ago, I hosted a little Fiesta Dinner Party. I used a LOT of different kinds of paper for this party and kept it simple, but fun. I originally planned for this dinner party for the evening of Cinco de Mayo, but Justin had his unexpected/emergency surgery, so we postponed it. It was worth the wait.. we had a fabulous little evening!
I kept the table pretty simple, using mostly things I already had. I know "Mexican paper flowers" are a big tradition for fiestas and Mexican celebrations, so I had to make some. I made close to 100 flowers out of new and old tissue paper, crepe paper and floral wire/tape. I decided to use some extra flowers to wrap around each place setting's silverware and each flower was attached with a made-up Mexican version of the person's name - we all laughed pretty hard! Of course, a modern-day-fiesta would be incomplete without mustaches-on-a-stick, so I decided to make some as well.
I really wanted to hang lots of fiesta-inspired paper from the ceiling to really pump of the "celebration". I saw the
coolest crepe paper DIY project at blog, Oh Happy Day.. Augh, hello fiesta! I definitely put my fringing scissors to good use with this party!
After I began planning for this party, I totally stumbled upon
Confetti System on a Martha Stewart
blog post. I had already begun my garlands and decor I planned to hang and after seeing the video, I couldn't
not make my own version of these fabuluso piñata-esque decorations. I had 2 small, square boxes that I taped close before heating my good ol' glue gun. I found the perfect gold tissue paper at Party City and cut it into strips before folding it and using my new {Martha Stewart}
Fringing Scissors (Eeee! True LOVE!). Lots of hot glue and an hour + later.. and voila!

Of course my buddy, Martha, inspired me with these super easy and super
fabulous hanging flowers, which I made with gusseted paper bags. I decided to make some fun "mini piñatas" with empty toilet paper rolls - also inspired by
Confetti System.
